PLEASE READ this notice as it explains the purposes for which Egg will use the personal and sensitive personal data which we hold.
Egg may share and use the information you provide to us, or which we hold on You, with the group of companies to which we belong, with our associated companies, agents who may be located in other countries and ACE European Group Limited ("ACE") who underwrite the Egg travel insurance product. Egg will make sure that your information is only used in accordance with our instructions and our own strict policies on confidentiality and data protection. If Egg transfers your information to another country, we will also make sure that it is given the same levels of protection as required under the UK Data Protection Act.
You agree to Egg processing personal data including sensitive personal data, such as medical history or criminal convictions, about you and other people who may be insured under the contract. You understand that all personal data you give must be accurate. You confirm that you are allowed to give Egg information about any joint applicant, partner or spouse, family member or other third party and you have the specific permission of those other people who are insured to give Egg their personal data. By proceeding with this application you are giving Egg your explicit consent to check the information you give, including checking whether you have criminal convictions in the event of a claim.
You understand all information, including sensitive personal data relating to convictions, given by individual policyholders may be made available to all policyholders named on the policy.
Egg may also give information to others where this is needed to run and / or renew your policy and to regulatory bodies for the purposes of monitoring and / or enforcing the insurers’ compliance with any regulatory rules or codes. Egg will keep information about you for a limited time after your insurance has expired. You have the right to see certain records we hold about you if you pay a fee and you can get more information explaining your rights by telephoning 0800 519 9931.
You agree that Egg may use your information for administration purposes and to develop and improve our products and services. You agree that Egg and ACE and their agents may use your information for the purposes of insurance administration, renewal and claims handling.
ACE may share personal and sensitive personal information with the following organisations / individuals for the purposes described below:
ACE work with the police, other insurance companies, fraud reference and detection agencies, government agencies credit reference agencies and other representative bodies to prevent and detect fraudulent or exaggerated claims. As part of this ACE will share information about your claims with providers of software designed to assist in the detection and prevention of fraudulent claims. ACE may also use commercially available databases to prevent money laundering. Other companies may contact these bodies for information to help them make decisions about insurance or similar services they provide to you.
ACE may also transfer your information to countries that do not provide the same level of data protection as the UK, if necessary, for the above purposes. If ACE does make such a transfer, ACE will, if appropriate put a contract in place to ensure the information transferred is protected.
If you are supplying personal or sensitive personal data to ACE about third parties, you confirm that they have appointed you to act for them and ACE assumes that those third parties consent to the supply of this information to ACE, to ACE processing this data, including sensitive personal data, and to the transfer of their information abroad. ACE will also assume that the supplier of the information is authorised to receive, on their behalf, any data protection notices.
Individuals whose information has been supplied to ACE are entitled to a copy of that information on payment of a fee and to have any inaccuracies corrected. Such information is available by contacting the Data Protection Officer at ACE Building, 100 Leadenhall Street, London EC3A 3BP.
